Rotoiti Lodge – Activities Available for Hire

Dangle Duo Climb the ‘ladder’ to the top of the poles. This is done in pairs that are harnessed and belayed by other members of the team. An excellent exercise for the development of cooperation and trust between participants.

Cost - Instructor time (refer below) plus $100 full day or $50 half day.

   
Pamper Pole Climb the 5m high pole, stand on the top and jump for the trapeze. Each person is fully harnessed and belayed by the rest of the team. Fosters confidence in individuals and is a lot of fun. Enjoy a great view from the top of the pole.

Flying Kiwi Comprises of two poles with a wire suspended between the two and a pulley attached to the middle. One person roped and harnessed running into the forest is hoisted by the rest of the team to the top of the wire. A great adrenalin buzz, heaps of fun and fantastic views of the Lake from the top.

Low Ropes Course With the assistance of two supporters, walk along wires and a swinging log and beam. Test your balance and co-ordination while trying not to fall off!

Horace the rock Abseil (forwards or backwards) or Rock Climb our 20m long by 5m high rock. Great for confidence building.

Cost - Instructor time (refer below) plus $50 per session

   
Group Initiatives A series of short activities that are designed to get your team working together. Excellent for team building. Activities include; Trust Fall, Spiders Web, the Tyre-Tanic, Disc Jockey, TP Shuffle and All Aboard.

Instructors : Trained instructor/s are available at the rate of $280.00 per day each or $140.00 per half-day each (4 hours). Each of the above activities requires one staff member.

Sessions are 1.5 to 2.5 hours duration. A team should be no greater than 10 - 12 people in total. If there are multiple teams, they can be rotated around different activities at the end of each session. Canoes Available for Hire - Rotoiti Lodge has six “Explorer” Canadian Canoes available for hire. Rotoiti Lodge canoes are only to be used on Lake Rotoiti unless specific permission has been obtained from a Resident Instructor to use them elsewhere.

Costs Canadian Canoe (including paddles) $25.00 per Canoe per day
  Buoyancy Aid $2.00 per jacket per day

Any damage to equipment will be charged for.

Skills and qualifications required of Instructors - Rotoiti Lodge will only hire out equipment and facilities to instructors who have the following qualifications and experience:
Current First Aid Certificate (2 day MSC Outdoor First Aid, 2 day St Johns or Red Cross certificate).

And
Current canoeing qualification, i.e NZOIA Flat Water 1 or logged experience of five days personal canoeing and five days instructional in the last twelve months.

Prospective instructors must submit to Lodge staff evidence of the above in the form of relevant certificates and log book, prior to running any activities.

Rotoiti Lodge hire equipment meets current safety standard requirements. Rotoiti Lodge accepts no responsibility for the actions of external users that hire our equipment.

Activities run for financial gain on Lake Rotoiti (or any other area within a National Park) must have a Department of Conservation concession.
